Simply Italian Great Wines
UNITED KINGDOM

September 29, 2026
London

Simply Italian Great Wines, the event created by IEM – International Exhibition Management to promote Italian wine worldwide, will return to th key market United Kingdom, in London.

The Simply Italian event is specifically designed to give Italian producers the opportunity to meet directly with local professionals (importers, sommeliers, the Ho.Re.Ca. channel) and trade press, fostering the establishment and strengthening of business relationships. The primary goal is to enhance and communicate the value of Italian wine, giving visibility to leading wineries through a rich program of seminars, guided tastings, and workshops.

United Kingdom

The United Kingdom remains one of the world’s leading wine markets, ranking second globally in terms of import value. In the first months of 2025, wine imports recorded a decline of 5.4% in value and 6.4% in volume. Despite the unfavorable economic climate, the UK market remains heavily dependent on imports, which continue to account for the vast majority of domestic consumption.

In this context, Italy holds a prominent position: it is the UK’s second-largest supplier by value, after France, and the leading supplier by volume. The three main countries of origin for UK wine imports are France, Italy, and Spain, which together account for about 70% of total import value.

On the demand side, per capita wine consumption in the UK stands at around 19–20 liters per year, a level lower than major Mediterranean markets but still significant. Consumption shows a gradual moderation in volumes, accompanied by growing attention to value-for-money, branding, and origin. In particular, sparkling wines, the most recognizable denominations, and wines with a clear territorial identity prove more resilient compared to undifferentiated wines.

Overall, the United Kingdom continues to represent a highly attractive market for Italian wine. Leadership in volume, strong presence among top suppliers, and the ongoing consumer shift toward categories with higher perceived value offer concrete opportunities for consolidation—especially for companies capable of effectively promoting key denominations and adapting their positioning to new consumption trends.
